The Advantage’s To Building A Metal Storage Shed [Video Transcript]
Assembling the framing of the shed. Follow the detailed instructions in the manual.
Before we get started, you’ll need your steel shed building materials. There are various sources to purchase it from but I like www.futurebuildings.com/. Next, find a nice level area, and start your assembly. Assemble the four corners of the floor using two screws at each corner. At the front corners, fasten bolts through from the bottom with the nuts on top. Measure the floor frame diagonally. When the diagonal measurements are equal, the floor frame is square. Position a quarter panel at the corner of the floor frame. The widest part of each corner panel must be placed along the side of the building for all four corners. Fasten the wall panels at the top and the bottom with screws. Fasten the center of each panel to the wall channel with screws. Fasten overlapping ribs as before.
The door jambs reinforce the door opening and provide an attractive trim. Fasten the front wall channels in their positions, between the end of the side wall channel and the corner panel using screws. The gables go on top of the front and rear walls to support the roof beam. Note, that the gables are packed nested inside each other and might be mistaken as one piece. Attach the four roof beam brackets to the gables. Lift, and fasten a right and left gable under angle at corner to the door track and rear wall angle with screws. Join the left and right gables together with the gable brace using a bolt and nut in the bottom hole only. Spread the two halves of the main roof beam, and fasten the roof beam to the gable brace of the front gable.
Installing the roof panels is best done with a step ladder. Begin installing roof panels at the back, right corner of the building. Each screw and bolt in the roof requires a washer. Measure the building diagonally, again, and make adjustments to make sure the building is square. This will make the roof panels fit better, and holes will align. Narrow roof panel, crimped rib is overlapped by a wide rib of the adjacent panel where possible. Install the first ridge cap, on the completed roof section, using bolts and nuts. Proceed to complete the roof assembly. Continue to fasten the roof panels in place, overlapping crimped ribs, until you cover the entire roof. Finish installing ridge cap sections, attach weather stripping tape as instructed, and fasten bottoms of roof panels to the side walls. Attach side roof trim to complete roof assembly.
Now proceed to the door assembly. Follow the same procedure for right and left doors. Attach door handles and braces to the doors. From inside of the shed, place the bottom edge of the right side door in the floor frame track. Tilt door up, and align top door brace with door slide. Fasten the door to the door slides using two number 10B, one and a half inch screws per door slide.
Your Storage Building is now complete. Remember to anchor your building. Now, enjoy your new garden shed.
